Today's Art - Day 3 of Recuperation from a Sprained Ankle

This morning's EDM challenge - I drew Carla's Cuisinart Coffeepot/Maker. The yellowish brown stain on the left side is from a flower I pressed in my sketchbook. Kind of looks like a coffee stain, doesn't it?

For some reason I sat down and started drawing with a ballpoint pen in this notepad. I just decided to finish him off with some watercolor and glue him in my sketchbook. Here is the finished page below.

Right before my nap on Carla's king size bed with jazz playing in the background, I thought of the above quote from Picasso and the truth of it in my current situation, and I planned how I would complete this journal/sketchbook page when I got up from my nap. I realized that this qualifies as EDM challenge # 18 as this little guy was outside the windows in the french doors - eating the birdseed Carla put out on the deck. I've been taking pictures of the birds all day with her camera and printing them off after some cropping and editing. I'm beginning to think I should have sprained my ankle a long time ago. I am being treated like royalty. My sister is amazing...truly amazing. I thank God for her! ... and for my art!

Three cheers for your sister! Love your journal pages. Art, tears, a lovely red cardinal - great to cleanse, recuperate, and build!

Great job on the coffee pot! And your bird and sketch journal page turned out lovely. The quote is a perfect touch! Thank you for visiting my blog earlier- it's so nice to meet you. I look forward to seeing more of your wonderful drawings! All the best in your continued healing.

I have a sister who would spoil me in the same situation. It's wonderful really yet I tend to not think of spoiling her. It seems like she has everything already (this last visit I did treat her to lunch which she was happy about as she and her husband are trying to pinch pennies. It's funny because their income is over 3X ours but so are their expenses). Enough about me though. I hope you are feeling better. Maybe the snow will keep falling and your ankle will take a long time to get better, lol!

Your bird came out terrific as did the coffee maker (why does everyone like that coffee maker anyhow? It's hard to see the water line).

yeah for your sister and her loving care. Wonderful drawings and journal page. Love the cardinal. I love red and it is gorgeous. Rest and take care and enjoy your art time. Mishaps can often bring new vision.

Love the cardinal! Too bad you hurt yourself, but sometimes the universe has its way of making you do the things you need to do! Enjoy your recuperation!

The magic of the ballpoint pen! We often forget about the simplest of artist tools! And next to the pencil, this was probably my second tool ever, as I sat in class doodling all over my papers! Love your cardinal and your coffee pot as well!

THese pages are GORGEOUS - so much to look at and I love the swirling words. I guess there's a bright side to being forced to slow down a little... right? : ) I hope you're back on your feet soon but in the meantime enjoy your art!

Sorry about your sprained ankle, but sounds like your sister is taking real good care of you. The sketches are wonderful and I love the quote. Keep up the great work!

You did such a nice job capturing the shine on the coffee pot, and I love your cardinal! What a good idea to glue him into your journal, and the lettering & quote are perfect! You're so fortunate to have your sister - one of my sisters died 9 years ago, and the other one is quite ill. I know you feel blessed. nancy

I love your cardinal and your journal page! (I have to say, confidentially, that your post on the EDM blog about missing work on Friday and this one about being laid up - both because of your ankle, are the happiest darn posts I've read by anyone in ages!)
