Lunch in the park (my car/traveling studio):
First I completed the mug that was in the photo a couple of posts back. The shape of this is absolutely sensuous to me! I just LOVE it!
After I finished up the mug, I went a bit crazy – I actually felt out-of-control – splashing paint, layering color with white gouache…dabbling and more splashing, then lines with the Ebony pencil… More splashes of color… more gouache… And here you have it – the finished painting in my Hand-Book Journal. The paper in this sketchbook sure holds up to some abuse! I love it! I did this painting from a photo I took last spring/summer at a local flea market.
The marker I used to sketch the pitcher went through to the previous and next pages. I drew this antique lamp during my play day on Friday in the antique store. I added the watercolor today and then wanted to remember the day so I pasted my blog entry on the left hand side of the paper. Voila – lunchtime at its finest. I hardly even looked up long enough to notice the beautiful weather!
And then for a short break this afternoon - I drew my Longaberger Mug - except I colored it blue instead of its original red.
All in all, a very productive day. Now I'm going to hit the couch and watch Antiques Roadshow :-)

Go crazy more often! It suits you. All those layers managed to create the look of some real substance to your red pitcher. Your mug is great in blue too. I like the splotches and bits all over the page. I hate it when pens leak through. I try to find the ones that won't but sometimes they have their own problems like not writing over all surfaces. If you put a sheet of waxed paper under the page at least it will only leak through one page.
If productivity and creativity is the name of the game, you've won it for the day ^^
Another interesting post and story, and beautiful pieces escorting towards vivid imagination.
Great work! They're all great, and there's a lot of good energy in your work. I especially love the orange pitcher on blue, it's wonderfully done!
I love the lighting you have on those jugs and what not great colors too keep it up!
Beautiful colors. They just pop.
I love your work! What are you making your lines with on the mug one?
Wow! You go, girl. These rock! nancy
The pitcher is the best :)
Thank you all for your comments! Incidentally, I sold the 5x7 painting of the mug yesterday! Glad I got the photo of it here. I used the Pigma Micron Graphic Size 1 pen on this - I plan on using this pen more often. I love the bold lines!
