THE WORSHIP OF THE WORK
Labourers together with God.
1 Corinthians
3:9
Beware of any work for God which enables you to evade
concentration on Him. A great many Christian workers worship their work. The one
concern of a worker should be concentration on God, and this will mean that all
the other margins of life, mental, moral and spiritual, are free with the
freedom of a child, a worshipping child, not a wayward child. A worker without
this solemn dominant note of concentration on God is apt to get his work on his
neck; there is no margin of body, mind or spirit free, consequently he becomes
spent out and crushed. There is no freedom, no delight in life; nerves, mind and
heart are so crushingly burdened that God's blessing cannot rest. But the other
side is just as true - when once the concentration is on God, all the margins of
life are free and under the dominance of God alone. There is no responsibility
on you for the work; the only responsibility you have is to keep in living
constant touch with God, and to see that you allow nothing to hinder your
co-operation with Him. The freedom after sanctification is the freedom of a
child, the things that used to keep the life pinned down are gone. But be
careful to remember that you are freed for one thing only - to be absolutely
devoted to your co-Worker.
We have no right to judge where we
should be put, or to have preconceived notions as to what God is fitting us for.
God engineers everything; wherever He puts us our one great aim is to pour out a
whole-hearted devotion to Him in that particular work. "Whatsoever thy hand
findeth to do, do it with thy might."
I love this! My responsibility is to “keep in living constant touch with God,” and to see that I allow nothing to hinder my cooperation with Him.
That is responsibility enough. But, oh, I can DO that! Joyfully! And what rewards are found in fulfilling that responsibility! And what freedom!
To come as a little child before our Father and acknowledge that we are totally dependent on Him. And then to rest in His loving care for us as we go about – playing, dancing; carefree and unfettered. Discovering the world around us and our place in it.
Then your work becomes easy and delightful because you know that your Father is there, protecting you, loving you, and caring for your needs.
If you fall and skin your knee, He is there to give you a warm hug and bandage the scrape.
If you are sad and begin to cry, He is there to whisper words of comfort and dry your tears.
If you are lonely He is there to hold you and His presence comforts.
If you lose your way, He is there to guide you back to the right path. At times He will walk with you and hold your hand and at other times He will let you venture out as He watches you to be sure you don’t make a wrong turn.
Best of all, if you mess up really bad, you can go to Him with the mess you’ve made and tell Him all about it. He will discipline you with love, not in anger. He will even help you turn your mess into something good. He won’t yell at you, put you down, or shame you. He will forgive you right away and won’t hold it against you. In fact, He will never bring it up again!
So rejoice, dear child! Your Father is there!
Look into his smiling face and rest in His love and care. You have nothing to fear.
…Maybe your earthly Father was nothing like this and you have no experience with a Father’s love. That doesn’t change the truth of the Heavenly Father’s care. Experience it, trust it, rest in it. He will not fail you!
Psalm 103
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within
me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not
all his benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth
all thy diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who
crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth
thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are
oppressed.
7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the
children of Israel.
8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to
anger, and plenteous in mercy.
9 He will not always chide: neither
will he keep his anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt with us after
our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the
heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our
transgressions from us.
13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so
the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
14 For he knoweth our frame; he
remembereth that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are as grass: as
a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
16 For the wind passeth over
it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
17
But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear
him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
18 To such as
keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
19 The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom
ruleth over all.
20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in
strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
21 Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do
his pleasure.
22 Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his
dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.

I did a whole year of devotionals with Oswald Chambers and the Good Lord and it changed my life. Thank you for reminding me of a very dear truth and for encouraging my heart again.
my utmost for His highest is one of my favorite devotional books of all time. Oswald Chambers has a unique way of looking at scripture that we tend to just sometime brush over. I enjoyed reading this! Hope you guys are doing well! Love!!
