Wild Thang - You Make my Heart Sang
These little paintings make my heart sing. I did these at work with gouache, Pigma Micron pen, white gel pen, watercolor, and even some colored pencil. In other words, I used everything I could get my hands on :-) and oh did I have FUN! This is my true heartfelt art I think - these really wild, bright, whimsical paintings straight from my imagination. -- "Wild thang, you make my heart sang" Happy art!
Watercolor sketches
This was a little still life I set up on the trip to the mountain cabin with my family. I did these watercolors in my Aquabee 9 x 9 sketchbook.

Matthew 10: 29, 31 Collage
"Fear not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows." Luke 12:2 This piece has many layers and many different media. I had a lot of fun with it. 9 x 12 on gallery wrapped Winsor & Newton canvas.
Psalm 118:14 Collage
I've been absent for over a month! It's good to be back in the blogosphere. I've been very busy this month. I had a weekend getaway in the mountains with my daughter, my mother, my sister, neice, great-nephew and great-neice, and my two aunts (Mama's sisters). I haven't done much sketching this month, but I have done some collages. The scan is not good on this one, and a digital photo was impossible without glare, but here is the best I can do. It has a more uniform color in real life. 9 x 12 on gallery wrapped canvas. "The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation." Psalm 118:14

Take 2
This is a redo of the previous sketch - see it at http://daloweartist.blogspot.com/2008/09/september-23-2008-2nd-day-of-fall.html. I just couldn't like the dark murky green background. So I put white gouache mixed with a little yellow and red in places and of course mixing with the green layer underneath. I do think it brightens the sketch a bit and keeps it from being a complete flop. Which do you like best; the first or second version?
Meeting Sketches
I did all these sketches in a meeting today at work. I had the zinnias on my desk and I took them into the meeting so that "everyone could enjoy them" but of course I intended to DRAW them - multi-tasking at its finest! See, you have to be creatively sneaky and steal every minute that you can for your art! I watercolored them after I got home tonight. I sketched them in Pigma Micron 08 and 03 pens. I also managed to take the minutes at this THREE-HOUR meeting!
